DANIEL: A fantastic good afternoon to all participants who’ve joined us today on our very first internal AMA event held right here — on Verasity’s official telegram channel. My name is Daniel, and I am Verasity’s community manager. With me here today, I have the pleasure to introduce to you our AMA guest and speaker, Justin Wenczka. Justin, please tell us a bit about yourself.

JUSTIN: Hi All. It’s a pleasure to be here and part of the Verasity community in general. I’m the Chief Revenue Officer at Verasity which basically means I help identify and maximise ways to make more money.

My background is in advertising technology and my passion is to improve accuracy and transparency in the advertising markets. I’ve worked in a lot of diverse ad tech companies and started/sold my own to improve advertising security. I’m also a big gamer and enjoy working with the developers and publishers that I spend most of my spare time with.

DANIEL: Thank you, Justin. Over the past few days, our community has posted several questions across our socials, and we’ve picked out the very best for you today.

DANIEL Q1: To kick off our Q&A session, first I’d like to ask you what is the latest development status of Verasity?

JUSTIN A1: That’s a great question — with a lengthy reply. The truncated response is — well, a lot. Since joining in April, I’ve been working to set up Proof of View and VeraViews as viable products for the market. PoV has been in a closed beta. We’re now finalizing agreements and collaborating with some highly reputable names in the adtech space and publisher space to bring PoV to full functionality and fruition. There’s been a lot of traction and action with our other brands as well — VeraWallet has made significant changes to its functionality and has more than doubled its users since I joined Verasity. VeraEsports has, of course, gone through a full rebrand with an entirely new site.

DANIEL Q2: Could you please tell us what was it about Verasity that helped you take the leap and join the company? What do you think is the key to PoV and Verasity’s success?

JUSTIN A2: Coming from adtech I understand the need for a transparent solution for fraudulent traffic — then learning about PoV, and how elegant and applicable it is to today’s challenges really excited me. I think the inherent qualities of blockchain technology — the fact that it’s transparent and immutable — can completely change how stakeholders interact with each other. Right now, publishers, advertisers, third parties all have their own sets of data — and none of them match. Blockchain just makes sense….then bring PoV and its ability to recognize human views vs bots — and you have a really exciting solution.

DANIEL Q3: Please explain to us: What are the biggest issues in adtech and ad fraud today? How will Proof of View change things for each player or stakeholder?

JUSTIN A3: The main issue in adtech is transparency. Advertisers want to buy inventory on publishers but there is an army of middlemen taking a cut. It’s so bad that there was a recent audit done and the company could not find where 15% of the budget was attributed to… bear in mind that this is a digital process which should be fully documented. Ad fraud is a never ending game of cat and mouse with fraudsters but its main problem is that the vendors are not incentivised to solve systemic problems.

DANIEL Q4: How revolutionary is POV? Can someone else come from a different route to solve the ad fraud problem? Are there existing competitors?

JUSTIN A4: POV is the first instance I’ve seen where a company has effectively applied an open ledger backend to an advanced anti-fraud front end. The patent excludes people from being able to replicate it. It’s more of a devolution than a revolution to be honest.. In the same way that google was a single search box compared to other frivolous search sites… POV is just simple, scalable and secure. It’s very easy to over engineer things, it’s exceptionally difficult to find great product people who can keep things simple and scalable.

DANIEL Q5: We talk about PoV having over 200 touch points to identify humans vs bots. What are they? How does it all work together?

JUSTIN A5: We can’t delve too deep into this as that’s “where the magic happens” so to speak — but here’s some detail…. First off your device has a lot of parameters which can be queried — what OS have you got, where are you. Then you have data around how your device interacts with networks… what’s your ping, how fast can you download files. Finally, you have in depth device info including file systems etc.. but it’s not only about the hundreds of touch points, it’s about erroneous data and profiles identified by a combination of various parameters.

DANIEL Q6: Who will be the primary customers of PoV and VeraViews?

JUSTIN A6: The clients are publishers (websites, apps etc.) ,advertisers (Coke, Pepsi etc.) and broadcasters (Sky Television, Hulu) that’s what makes it an end to end solution. Advertisers have to protect their brands and maximise their ad spend, Publishers have to provide a fraud free ad environment and because transactions are agreed ‘on serve’ it means we can pay them without delay. We are also developing an NFT solution based on our PoV patent extension currently.
