How Proof of View (PoV)™ Helps Creators

In the world of online video, views are money. Whether you’re a big Creator or small you rely on the number of views your videos get to earn revenue. Advertising revenue is anything but consistent and there are a whole line of middlemen waiting to take their cut before you receive anything. It’s also in the platform’s interest to make sure that the content which makes the most revenue is seen first.

The problem with this system is that people are cheating it by buying fake video views. Even boring, poor-quality, videos can go viral if sufficiently pumped with fake viewers. Viral content is the perfect money maker for the existing platforms and we’re usually baited into watching these types of videos because anything with hundreds of thousands of views must be good, right?

Creators are constantly battling to avoid being outranked by content that’s being boosted by fake video views. They either have the choice of sticking with their hard-earned organic users and fighting with one hand tied behind their back or start buying views themselves. If they decide to stay honest their videos don’t receive as many views, they make less money for the platforms, so they don’t get elevated in recommendation engines.

Platforms do try and tackle fake video views and it’s becoming more popular to even try and lower someone’s channels in the rankings or get their account banned by sending fake views their way.

Irrespective of whether you’re a top-tier creator or someone who’s just starting out, fake views are hurting your business as they’re driving fake advertising impressions. Advertisers are reliant on real and engaged audiences watching their adverts so that brands will continue to pay for them. Advertisers use expensive and sometimes inaccurate third-party verification tools to verify that the views on their adverts are real. When these tools detect inaccuracies the platform’s don’t get paid which means less revenue for all Creators in general.

How is it fair that all Creators earn less because of what a select few are doing? It’s not. That’s why Verasity has created patent-pending Proof of View (PoV)™ technology.

Verasity’s PoV™ provides true and accurate audience metrics based on the blockchain so it is secure and tamper-proof. That means anyone can see the real number of views on a piece of content. PoV™ creates a fair system where all content can be accurately valued. Allowing for Creators to effectively monetize their content and know that they’re working on a level playing field.

A direct relationship between Creators, Viewers and Advertisers exists so they won’t be missing out to middlemen either.

With fake views eradicated it means that poor quality content such as fake news will no longer be so easy to push. Every type of content will have a true value. This sets the stage for good quality Creators to thrive and grow, knowing that every view, share and like is real and has been earned.
