Arizona Diamondbacks (76–68) vs Colorado Rockies (79–64)
Date: September 11, 2018
Game Time: 8:40 pm
MLB Odds: Rockies +110, O/U 10.5
The NL West-leading Colorado Rockies will host their division rival, Arizona Diamondbacks for Game 2 of their four-game series on Tuesday night. The Rockies have won 7 of 10, including a 13–2 win over the Diamondbacks on Monday, and they have surged to the top of the NL West standings. The Diamondbacks are heading in the opposite direction after losing 8 of 10 and three-straight games.
Starting Pitchers: Arizona RHP Zack Greinke (13–9, 3.08 ERA) vs. Colorado RHP Antonio Senzatela (4–5, 4.92 ERA)
Zack Greinke will make his 30th start on the season as he looks to bounce back from a rough outing in his last starting, conceding 4 ER over 5.1 innings vs the Braves. Greinke is (4–4) with 2 no-decisions over his last 10 starts. Greinke has limited the Rockies to only six runs (five earned) with a 2–0 record in 19.1 innings this season, and he features a terrific 3.75 ERA paired with an 11–5 record in 168 career innings against the division rivals.
Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story has entered the National League’s Most Valuable Player race with a huge second half. Story is hitting .293, 32 HR’s, 99 RBI’s and 160 hits. Story hit a three-run homer and German Marquez struck out 11 over seven strong innings in Monday’s 13–2 win as the Rockies increased their lead to 1 1/2 games over the Los Angeles Dodgers and 3 1/2 games over the Diamondbacks. Antonio Senzatela will make his 20th appearance and 10th start of the season and is (4–5, 4.92 ERA) on the season. Senzatela has not recorded a win since late July when he beat the A’s, 4–1.
With Zack Greinke on the mound, the odds of Arizona winning have increased. However, the Diamondbacks are 1–4 in Greinke’s last 5 starts vs. a team with a winning record and 2–5 in Greinke’s last 7 starts. The Diamondbacks are 2–8 in their last 10 overall and 1–5 in their last 6 vs. National League West. Colorado is 7–2 in their last 9 vs. National League West, 19–9 in their last 28 home games vs. a team with a winning record and 9–3 in Senzatelas last 12 starts vs. National League West. Colorado has won 4 of the last 5 against Arizona and they seem to have their number this season, even if Greinke is on the mound. Something special is brewing in Denver and I’ll fade the ace tonight and take the Rockies +110 as home underdogs.
