NCAAF Betting Prediction and Odds
NCAAF Odds: Navy -3, 46.5

Army Black Knights

The greatest rivalry in college football kicks off Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field as the Army Black Knights take on their rival, Navy. This is a rivalry that despite either teams record, you will see both teams leave everything on the field. Navy has dominated this series winning 14 of the last 15 meetings, however, Army broke their losing streak last season beating Navy, 21–17.

Army is the only team in the country that has over 4,000 rushing yards and the Black Knights average 368 rushing yards per game. Navy is not far behind, averaging 347 rushing yards per game. The Black Knights are lead by QB Ahmad Bradshaw who has rushed for 1472 yards, 7.8 YPC and 11 touchdowns. Darnell Woolfolk is 2nd on the team with 668 yards and 11 TD’s.

Army is having a fantastic season entering this game (8–3) with wins over Duke, Temple and Air Force. This team could easily be 10–1 with two losses by a combined 7 points. A big reason is the play of a defense that needed to replace multiple starters coming into this year. Alex Aukerman has led this defense with 14.5 tackles for loss with six sacks.

Black Knights Betting Trends

  • Black Knights are 6–2 ATS in their last 8 games in December
  • Black Knights are 4–9 ATS in their last 13 games following a straight up loss

Navy Midshipmen

Navy is on the opposite end of the spectrum from Army. After starting the season (5–0) the Midshipmen have dropped the last 6 games. Like a typical service school, Navy has not lost a single game by more than 10 points. The effort is there, the results have not been.

Navy runs a true triple option, unlike Army. It all starts with quarterback Zach Abey, who leads Navy with 1,322 yards rushing and 14 rushing touchdowns, and another 803 yards and seven touchdowns through the air.

The Navy defense has been their greatest weakness all season, however they have fared well in their last two games. They will give up yards on the ground which could be an issue against Army’s potent running game.

Midshipmen Betting Trends

  • Midshipmen are 3–0–1 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss
  • Midshipmen are 3–1–2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record

Army vs Navy Betting Prediction

They might not have the most talented athletes and the two offenses may not be as exciting as the spread offense, but this is without a doubt the top rivalry in college football. Army has been effective against the run, holding opponents to an average of 155 rushing yards per game, so I am confident they can at least contain the Navy running game. Navy has only scored 17 points in each of their last two games, and have lost five out of their last six games. Army has the chance for 9 wins in the regular season and possibly 10, with a win in a Bowl. Like every other Army/Navy game, this will be close. The wrong team is favored in this matchup and I am advising taking the Black Knights and the points.

Army vs Navy Prediction: Army +3
