MLB Odds: Red Sox -113 | Mariners -107 | 8.5

Starting Pitchers: Drew Pomeranz (10–4) 3.51 ERA vs. Felix Hernandez (5–4) 3.88 ERA

The current road trip has not been kind to the Boston Red Sox after losing their 4th straight game last night to the Mariners, 4–0. The Red Sox lost two of three to the Angels prior to this series and they look to starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz to get them back on track. Seattle has won six of their last ten games after last night’s victory. King Felix takes the mound for the Mariners in tonight’s matchup.

The Red Sox have allowed 13 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last eight games. The offense has been an issue for them lately as they have averaged just 3.31 RPG over their last 16 games. On the season, Boston ranks 6th in the majors with a team .261 batting average but their power numbers are down as a whole, entering this game with just 99 home runs. Mookie Betts leads the Red Sox with 112 hits and 61 RBI while Xander Bogaerts and Dustin Pedroia have combined for 202 hits and 95 RBI.

Drew Pomeranz is 3–0 with a 1.59 ERA in 12 games overall vs the Mariners, including 2–0 with a 1.00 ERA in three starts.

Seattle may not admit it but their focus is on the Wildcard and not the AL West division. The Mariners are 17.5 games behind the Astros but they are just 2.5 games out of AL Wildcard. Seattle picked up a much-needed win last night vs the Sox after losing 3 of 4 to the Yankees over the weekend.

Toeing the rubber for the Mariners will be Felix Hernandez. King Felix is 5–4 with a 3.88 ERA in 11 starts on the year, including 2–1 with a 1.00 ERA in his last three starts and 4–2 with a 3.43 ERA in seven starts here at home.

Hernandez has seen plenty of the Red Sox in his career and is 8–4 with a 3.90 ERA in 18 starts.

Seattle is ranked 9th in MLB with a team .260 batting average and 15th in homers with 115. Pitching has hurt this team as they are ranked 16th in the league in ERA at 4.49 while also ranking 12th in WHIP at 1.32.

Drew Pomeranz has allowed two or less earned runs in eight of his last 10 starts, and Felix Hernadez has given up two earned runs in his last 18 innings. The Under is 7–1 the last eight meetings between these teams here in Seattle and that should continue tonight. Take the Under 8.5 in Tuesday’s matchup.
