Both teams are (2–1) on the season but the Steelers are looking to bounce back from a rough 34–3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday. The Kansas City Chiefs put on a dazzling defensive effort as they made six interceptions en route to a 24–3 home win over the Jets last Sunday. Alex Smith has been Alex Smith after three games this season throwing for 786 yards, 3 TD’s to 1 INT for 66.9 completion percentage. Kansas City is averaging just 23 points per game, ranking them in the middle at 17th overall. But the Chiefs rely on their stellar defensive play. The Chiefs defense has been very sharp the last two weeks, and are now allowing an average of only 16.3 points per game, good for sixth in the NFL.
Were the Steelers flat last week or are the Eagles really that good? It could be a little of both but the Steelers have put the tough loss behind them as they host one of the top teams in the AFC. The good news is that the Steelers will get Le’Veon Bell back after serving his 3 game suspension. DeAngelo Williams ran the ball really well up until last week filling in for Bell but the two should both see action vs the Chiefs and add another dimension to the run game.
The Steelers defense really struggled after two tremendous performances to start the season. They could not stop rookie Carson Wentz who threw for over 300 yards with two touchdowns, and the Steelers did not record a sack. The Steelers are now allowing an average of 22 points per game, ranking them 14th in the NFL.

The Steelers run defense is allowing just 75 yards rushing which may force Alex Smith’s hand. The Chiefs defense, while very good, hasn’t been as successful at stopping the run. Advantage goes to Steelers in this matchup which is why I am taking Pittsburgh -5 at home to bounce back with a big win at home.
