Cleveland Indians vs Boston Red Sox
Line: Red Sox -110, O/U 8
Game Time: Monday, August 20, 7:10 PM
A matchup of two of the top teams in the American League kicks off at Fenway Park tonight when the Boston Red Sox host the Cleveland Indians for a four-game series. In Game 1, two 15 game winners climb the hill as Corey Kluber (15–6, 2.68 ERA) will get the ball for Cleveland and he’ll be opposed by Rick Porcello (15–5, 4.04 ERA) for the Red Sox.
The Cleveland Indians look to remain hot after winning 10 of their last 13 games and 7 straight series wins. The Indians have a top 5 offense and a pitching staff that is set up for the postseason. Corey Kluber is making a run at another Cy Young Award as he breezed through seven innings at Cincinnati on Tuesday, allowing one run and five hits while striking out seven en route to a win. Kluber has won three of his last four starts but is 2–4 with a 4.45 ERA and 64 strikeouts in his career against the Red Sox.
Boston has the best record in baseball by a large margin. The Red Sox failed to sweep the Rays on Sunday, losing 2–0 but they have not suffered back-to-back losses since June 19 and 20 and are 10–0–3 in their last 13 series. Rick Porcello enters this start after a 10 strikeout performance vs the Phillies last Tuesday. Porcello has not faced the Indians since 2016 but he is 10–4 with a 3.35 ERA and 85 strikeouts in his career against the Indians.
This will be a playoff-type atmosphere at Fenway Park with two of the top pitchers on the mound. The Red Sox are 44–16 at home this season while the Indians are 32–28 on the road. Porcello has been up and down recently but the fact that we are getting the Red Sox at -110 odds at home is solid value. Take Boston -110 in Game 1 of this four-game series.
