Colorado Buffaloes vs Washington Huskies Free Pac 12 Conference Tournament Pick, 3–15–2019
Colorado Buffaloes (21–11) vs Washington Huskies (25–7)
Time: Friday, March 15th, 9 PM EST
Current Odds: Washington -2
The Pac 12 Tournament is underway at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV and tonight we breakdown the semifinal matchup between the Colorado Buffaloes and Washington Huskies. Washington won both meetings this season (2–0 SU, 2–0 ATS). Oddsmakers list the Huskies as -2 point favorites but the Buffaloes are riding a wave of momentum after winning five straight games.
Colorado (17–15 ATS) went 12–8 in conference play this season have not lost in March after winning five straight over Pac 12 Conference opponents. The last loss the Buffaloes suffered was to Washington (64–55) on February 23rd. Colorado used a strong defensive effort vs Oregon State to advance to semifinals. The defense has been the Buffaloes calling card, allowing 67.6 PPG while scoring 74.3 PPG on offense. The Buffaloes outrebounded Oregon State by 11 rebounds and held the Beavers to just 34.0% shooting from the field and 16.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for Colorado was McKinley Wright IV who had 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Washington is the #1 seed in the Pac 12 Tournament and they barely escaped USC 78–75 on Thursday. The Huskies had all the could handle from the 8th seed USC Trojans and Washington held off a late charge by the Trojans to advance. Offensively, Washington was led by Jaylen Nowell (16.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.2 spg) and Noah Dickerson (12.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg). The Huskies had the top-rated defense in the Pac 12 this season allowing 62.3 PPG in conference play this season and 64.4 PPG overall (29th).
Buffaloes are 7–2 ATS in their last 9 games following a straight up win
Huskies are 1–5 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games
This game will be highlighted by the defense but the key will be rebounding. The Huskies grabbed control of the boards in their last meeting and the Buffaloes will need to do a better job on the glass. Washington has proven twice they are the better team this season and despite Colorado’s recent streak, the Huskies should control the glass tonight and shut down the 3-point area. Washington’s recent scare vs USC will provide a wake-up call and I like the Huskies to play focused and motivated tonight.
