Mavericks Betting Preview

The Dallas Mavericks have been in a real slump and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting beat by the Bucks in a 129–117 loss on Saturday. Luka Doncic led the team with 40 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists and continues to be hindered by right ankle soreness and is listed as questionable. Kyrie Irving has also been dealing with an injured thumb but all reports indicate both players will suit up on Monday night. Kyrie missed the last six games and the Mavericks have not been the same team. Luka Doncic is averaging 34.8 points and 9.6 assists, while Kyrie Irving is averaging 25.2 points and 5.1 rebounds. Tim Hardaway Jr. is the third double-digit scorer and Derrick Jones Jr. is grabbing 3.6 rebounds. The Mavericks are averaging 118.2 points on 47.4 percent shooting and allowing 118.8 points.

76ers Betting Preview

Just like the Mavericks, Philadelphia has been hit with the injury bug and learned on Sunday that MVP Joel Embiid will miss extended time after he undergoes surgery to repair a torn meniscus. First-time All-Star, Tyrese Maxey is averaging 26.2 points and 6.4 assists per game. Maxey will need to pick up the load in Embiid’s absence. Tobias Harris has missed the past few games with an illness and is listed as questionable. The Sixers would like to have his 17.9 points and 6 rebounds per game added back to the lineup. Kelly Oubre Jr. is the third double-digit scorer and De’Anthony Melton is grabbing 4 rebounds. The Sixers were averaging 119.1 PPG while allowing 113 PPG before subtracting Joel Embiid’s 35 PPG from the lineup.

Free Pick

Generally speaking, the Sixers have played well at home with a 17–7 record but the absence of Embiid is a huge blow to this team with Championship aspirations. The Sixers came off a tough five-game road trip going 1–4, only to lose to the Nets at home on Saturday. The Mavericks should get Kyrie Irving back and while Luka is listed as questionable, he most likely will suit up. In addition to Embiid, and possibly Tobias Harris, Nicolas Batum and De’Anthony Melton will also be out of the lineup. The Sixers have a lot of hurdles to overcome and while both teams are in poor form, the Mavericks get a star player back in the lineup to help Luka. I think the Sixers are still trying to figure out how to play with Embiid and tonight will be a tough task. Take the Mavericks -1.5 on the road to cover the spread as they should be able to handle this injury riddle 76ers team.
