Eagles vs Cowboys Prediction by George Moyer of CapFox.com

The youth movement has taken over the NFL East in 2016 with Carson Wentz at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles and with Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot for the Cowboys. No one predicted that either quarterback would start the season under center and no one predicted that either quarterback would be leading their teams to the top of the NFC East. Philadelphia is 2nd in the NFC East right behind the Cowboys and one win separates the leader.

Philadelphia managed to protect home field last Sunday vs the Vikings as their defense stifled Sam Bradford and their anemic offense. The Eagles special teams contributed big with Josh Huff returning a kickoff for a touchdown to give the Eagles the lead in the 2nd quarter and they never looked back. The Vikings were undefeated heading into Philadelphia last weekend but their weaknesses were exposed by the Eagles defense. The Vikings offense is certainly not equivalent to the Cowboys offense but it’s a win regardless. The Eagles should also feel confident that after facing the 2nd ranked Vikings defense, the offensive line did not give up a single sack. They kept rookie QB Carson Wentz up right for the most part. The Eagles have been up and down this season but when they get contributions from both sides of the ball, they can compete with any team in the league, just ask the Steelers.

Remember Tony Romo? Romo has been healing from back surgery but is expected to be ready to play within the coming weeks. It was said that Romo could return for the Eagles game but speculation has arose that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys staff are reluctant to remove rookie sensation Dak Prescott from the lineup. How can you remove a quarterback that has lead his team to a (5–1) record and the lead in the NFC East? Dallas ranks 3rd in the NFL averaging over 401 YPG and rank 1st in the NFL rushing for over 161 YPG. The main reason for their success on the ground has been rookie Ezekiel Elliot, their 1st round pick out of Ohio State. Elliot has the benefit of running behind the massive offensive line and one of the best in the league. Elliot had high expectations coming out of college and when he slipped to Dallas pick #5 they had visions of Emmitt Smith. Elliot has now rushed for over 130 yards in 4 straight games and is coming off a 157 yard rushing game vs the Packers, who were excellent at stopping the run. This looks like a mismatch for the Eagles rush defense, ranking 15th, stopping Elliot from running all over the field.

While the Eagles have surprised us before when they went into Chicago on Monday night and came out a winner or when they hosted Pittsburgh and completely thrashed the Steelers. The Cowboys really look confident and while this may be a rivalry game, it features a lot of young players that have yet to experience the rivalry.

This should be a great game and I have a 10 unit winner available on this Sunday Night Featured Matchup.
