It’s been a long time since the LA Rams beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 16 years to be exact. This season the Rams travel to Philadelphia with confidence after beating the Cowboys in Week 1 while the Eagles lost to the Redskins and have an entire team listed on the injury list. Oddsmakers opened with Eagles favored by -3 points but the line has moved to Rams -1 depending on the book.
Los Angeles took care of the Cowboys in Week 1 at home winning 20–17 behind the efforts Jared Goff and a ferocious defensive effort. After watching Aaron Donald rip through the Cowboys offensive line, it would be hard to fathom a more important battle than one that features the two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Donald’s pressure made it difficult on Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and the game plan won’t change when he goes up against a battered Eagles line. Wentz was sacked by the Washington Football Team eight times for a loss of 62 yards. Aaron Donald could be the game-changer in this matchup.
Philadelphia squandered a 17 point lead to lose to the Washington Football Team, 27–17. The Eagles will get back Lane Johnson and Miles Sanders but they have a laundry list of injured players. The Eagles offensive line will welcome back Lane Johnson but they are far from a complete unit that is prepared for Aaron Donald. The Eagles had difficulties running the football last week and Miles Sanders will help ease the load from Boston Scott. The Eagles’ defense has effective players at all positions. They actually held Washington to only 239 total yards last week, but have a bigger challenge against Goff and the Rams.
On paper this an intriguing matchup between two potential playoff contenders. While it’s generally difficult to travel across the country and pick up a win in the NFL, the Eagles will need to pick up the pieces after a humiliating loss to the Redskins. The Eagles will welcome back some important players but the Rams are healthy and eager to beat the Eagles for the first time in 16 years. The Eagles need to get healthy before they can compete and the offensive line is a big problem for this team. If the Eagles can’t keep Carson Wentz upright it could be a long day for Philadelphia. A slight edge goes to the Rams in this matchup as -1 point favorites.
