The Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies meet again for the second series in a week. The Brewers took 2 of 3 from the Phillies last week and they kick off another three game series tonight at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Pitching Probables: Matt Garza (4–4, 3.84 ERA) for the Brewers and the Phillies will counter with Aaron Nola (6–6, 3.54 ERA).

The Milwaukee Brewers have been struggling of late and they are on the verge of losing their lead in the NL Central. The Brewers lead is now down to just 1.5 games over the Cubs after they blew a 2–1 lead in the bottom of the 9th against the red-hot Pirates on Wednesday night. Milwaukee has now lost five straight games heading into tonight’s matchup and their last win came on 7/15 against the Phillies.

Matt Garza gets the ball tonight for the Brewers. Garza faced the Phillies in his last outing and took the ND after pitching only 5.0 innings but he allowed only 1 run on 3 hits. Garza against the Phillies in his career has gone (2–2) with a 2.28 ERA in nine starts, including (1–1) with a 2.88 ERA in four starts here at Citizens Bank Park.

The offense has really struggled lately as they have averaged just 2.4 RPG in their last five games. On the season, the Brewers offense has been good as they come in ranked 7th in the league in scoring, putting up 4.87 RPG, while also ranking 18th in hitting at .254 and 2nd in homers with 145.

Aaron Nola is on the hill for the home team and he has pitched well lately. The last 5 starts, Nola has gone (3–1) with an ND his last outing. Over this span, he has not allowed more than 2 ER. In his career vs the Brewers, he has gone (2–0) with a 1.42 ERA in three starts.

The Phillies are a bad offensive team so far as they come in ranked 28th in the league in scoring, putting up 3.92 RPG, while also ranking 22nd in hitting at .245 and 28th in homers with 94.

I like both starting pitchers in tonight’s matchup. Garza is a solid veteran pitcher and Nola seems to be pitching very well at the moment. Both pitchers have shut down stuff and I see this game going Under 8.5 runs.

Brewers vs Phillies Prediction: Under 8.5
