Milwaukee Bucks vs Boston Celtics

Date: April 17th, 2018
Game Time: 8:00 pm

NBA Odds: Celtics -2.5, 197.5

No Kyrie Erving, no problem. The Boston Celtics managed to win Game 1 of this Eastern Conference Playoff matchup vs the Milwaukee Bucks without All-Star PG Kyrie Erving. The Celtics pulled off a 113–107 overtime win on Sunday to go up 1–0 on the Bucks and Game 2 is set to tip off tonight with the Celtics favored by -2.5 points.

In Game 1, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 35 points and 13 rebounds along with Khris Middleton who scored 31 points and six assists but they had very little help outside of these two players. The Bucks didn’t have another starter score in double-digits and they became overly reliant on Giannis. This will have to change in Game 2. The Bucks must also cut down on their turnovers after shooting themselves in the foot repeatedly in Game 1 with 20 miscues as against Boston’s 15. Boston was +9 in points off turnovers.

The Celtics were without Kyrie Erving and Marcus Smart in Game 1 but Al Horford took over the leadership role and dropped 24 points, 12 rebounds. The Celtics let up 55 points in the paint in Game 1 so they will need to improve upon their defense down low in Game 2.

The Bucks are 4–12 ATS in their last 16 vs. Eastern Conference compared to the Celtics going 11–4 ATS in their last 15 vs. Eastern Conference. The Celtics have lost almost an entire starting lineup of players but they are a scrappy team with determination. The Bucks need more production outside of Antetokounmpo and Middleton but they have limited offensive options with the exception of Eric Bledsoe. I see Game 2 ending much like Game 1, with the Celtics winning and covering the spread.
