Detroit Lions (1–0)

The Detroit Lions take the spotlight with the lone Monday Night Football game when they travel to the Big Apple to take on the Giants. Current line has the G-Men as -3 point home favorites with the Total set at 42.

Detroit heads into their Monday Night matchup off of a big opening season victory over the Arizona Cardinals, 35–23. After a slow start, Matthew Stafford shined, completing 29 of 41 for 292 yards for four TDs and a pick. The Lions will need to figure out a way to run the football. In 2016, they averaged just 81.9 yards per game on the ground to rank 30th in the league. In Week 1, the Lions rushed 27 times for 82 yards.

Detroit’s defense held the Cardinals to just 45 rushing yards in Week 1 and 263 passing yards.

New York Giants (0–1)

The New York Giants may once again be without Odell Beckham Jr. who missed Week 1 with a sprained ankle. They certainly could have used his presence on the field vs the Cowboys when they opened the season with a 19–3 loss on the road.

One of the biggest issues the Giants had in Week 1 was the awful offensive line play. The Cowboys were able to put immense pressure on Eli Manning and the Giants offense had no answer. Manning finished with 29 of 38 for 220 yards and one pick. New York never had a chance on the ground and basically gave up on the run early in the game.

The Giants defense should be a top 5 defense again and they looked good vs the Cowboys, holding the Cowboys to under 20 points and 392 yards. They held Dallas to only 3 points in the second half.

Lions vs Giants Total Prediction

What is CB Ferris Predicting?

Both teams have a lot to prove in Week 2. Can the Lions keep the momentum after their Week 1 win and prove they are a team to watch in the NFC? Can the Giants rebound and avoid going (0–2) on the season without Odell Beckham Jr.?

I really like this Giants defense and Beckham Jr. does not play for the Giants, it will make the Lions’ defense job much easier. I lean on the Under in this matchup and expect a defensive, field position battle.

Lions vs Giants Monday Night Football Pick: Under 42
