Ohio State takes to the road and heads North to Camp Randall to take on the Wisconsin Badgers for a big time Big 10 matchup. Oddsmakers have the Buckeyes pegged as -10 point favorites (ATTOW). These two teams have not played since 2014 when Ohio State thrashed the Badgers, 59–0. That was two years ago but are the Buckeyes worthy of such chalk on the road?
The Wisconsin Badgers have one loss on the season which came two weeks ago at Michigan, 14–7. Michigan dominated the game statistically, out rushing Wisconsin, 349–159. The Badgers fought hard but they just didn’t have the offensive game plan to win vs the #1 ranked Michigan defense. It won’t get any easier for the Badgers as they face the #4 ranked Buckeyes defense that allows 10.8 PPG and less than 100 rushing yards per game.
Ohio State rolls into Camp Randall after beating Indiana , 38–17. It was a much tougher game for Ohio State than what the final score may indicate. Indiana did their best to poke holes in the pass defense of Urban Meyer’s team, but in the end they just couldn’t keep J.T. Barrett contained, as the Buckeye quarterback rushed a career-high 26 times for 137 yards and a touchdown. Ohio State is averaging 323 rushing yards per game and 537 total YPG, averaging 53 PPG — good for 6th in the country.
This will be the fourth top 10 team the Badgers have faced in a row. Wins over LSU and Michigan State gave this Badgers team credit with bettors but as the season continues to unfold we also see that LSU and Michigan State are not the teams that their ranking at the time indicated. This Ohio State team is athletically superior to Wisconsin and while 10 points on the road is a lot to give up facing a tough Wisconsin team, the Buckeyes have the offense and defense to cover this spread. However, my money is going on the Under 45. I see this game falling below this number with two top ranked defenses taking center stage. Wisconsin’s offense has not put up big numbers and the Ohio State offense has not faced a stout defense like the Badgers.
