NCAAB Odds: NC State +1.5

Penn State

The Penn State Nittany Lions will travel to Raleigh, NC to take on the NC State Wolfpack as part of the Big 10/ACC Challenge. Penn State is off to a nice start this season (6–1) but they were unable to win its lone game against a ranked opponent up to this point, falling to Texas A&M last week.

Tony Carr leads Penn State with an average of 20 points and 4.8 assists per game while Lamar Stevens is the team’s leading rebounder with 6.7 rebounds per contest.

As a team, Penn State is scoring 82 points per game on 47.9% shooting from the field, 34.4% from behind the arc and 70.7% from the foul line this season.

Nittany Lions Betting Trends

  • Nittany Lions are 5–1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games
  • Nittany Lions are 4–1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Atlantic Coast
  • Nittany Lions are 3–8 ATS in their last 11 road games

NC State Wolfpack

North Carolina State started the season 5–0 but is now coming off consecutive setbacks against Northern Iowa and Tennessee. However, the Wolfpack did have a nice win in the Bahamas over Arizona.

NC State comes into this game scoring 81 PPG on offense despite the fact that the Wolfpack have been held to 60 points or fewer in two straight losses. NC State is shooting 46% from the floor while dishing 14 assists per game.

Allerik Freeman leads the Wolfpack with 15.9 PPG followed by Torin Dorn with 13.7 PPG.

Wolfpack Betting Trends

  • Wolfpack are 6–2 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games
  • Wolfpack are 2–8 ATS in their last 10 vs. Big Ten
  • Wolfpack are 2–7 ATS in their last 9 home games

Penn State vs NC State Betting Prediction

The Wolfpack has struggled shooting from the floor and they haven’t exactly found a leading scorer that will take over down the stretch. The Wolfpack are 4–11 ATS in their last 15 overall and 2–11 ATS in their last 13 against winning opponents. Penn State hasn’t played the toughest of schedules to start the year, and this will be a true test to see how they respond in their first road game of the season. I think there is value backing the Nittany Lions in this matchup despite playing the weaker schedule thus far. Look for Penn State to pull out a nice road victory.

Penn State vs NC State Pick: Penn State -1.5
