Philadelphia 76ers vs Toronto Raptors Free Game 7 Prediction, 5–12–2019
Philadelphia 76ers (58–35) vs Toronto Raptors (65–28)
Sunday, May 12th, 8:30 PM EST
Line: Raptors -6, 209
The Philadelphia 76ers forced a Game 7 with a 112–101 win over the Raptors in Game 6 on Thursday night and now Toronto heads North to defend their home court for a chance at the Eastern Conference Finals. The Sixers avoided losing three-straight games and now carry some momentum into the series finale.
The Sixers were most recently listed as +6 point road dogs and in Game 5 they were also +6 point dogs, in which the Raptors won by 36 points in an easy cover backing the home chalk. The underdog is 4–1 ATS the last 5 meetings between the Sixers and Raptors but the home team is also 9–3 ATS the last 12 matchups. Philly will need every ounce of energy from Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler. If the Sixers can knock down at least 35%+ of their 3-pointers at an efficient clip, they will remain in this basketball game. The Sixers will attack the Raptors with the same game plan as in Game 6 with a downhill, aggressive attacking offense. On defense, their goal will be to hold the Raptors to sub 30% from 3-point land and make it difficult for Toronto to get to the rim.
Toronto returns to the Scotiabank Arena where they went 36–11 on the season but just 22–25 ATS. Kawhi Leonard is the MVP of this series, averaging 33.6 PPG and 10 RPG. In Game 6, Leonard received little support from his teammates as Kyle Lowry had 13 points, Marc Gasol had 7, and Danny Green had 8 points. The Sixers did a better job of defending but I expect a better all around Toronto team on Sunday playing at home. The Raptors have bounced back from losses going 5–1 ATS their last 6 games following a loss.
As they say, in Game 7 all bets are off the table. This series has produced blowouts, a defensive battle, a couple of close games but there has been one trend evident in each game, the team that wins the 1st quarter wins the game. I expect this game to be close with the season on the line and each player must play his best. The Sixers knocked down key shots in Game 6 while the Raptors went cold from outside. If the Sixers can carry the momentum from Game 6 into Game 7 then I like Sixers +6 on the road. The points are too many to pass up in a Game 7 for a chance at the Eastern Conference Finals.
