Puss Williamson’s Tuesday MLB Power Play: Nationals vs Royals
Free MLB Pick | Washington Nationals vs Kansas City Royals
Bryce Harper was named National League Player of the Month for April after a torrid start at the plate hitting 9 HR’s and 22 hits. The reigning NL MVP has hit a dry spell patch going just 2–21 at the plate the last 6 games. The Royals bats have been silenced and as a result they have lost 6 of 7 games and have been shutout 3 of their last 4 games. Read below for a free MLB pick from Puss Williamson of BetSheet.com.
Washington Nationals
The Washington Nationals look to keep rolling after winning seven of their last 10 games. The Nationals pitching staff has allowed two runs in their last three games and three or less runs in 14 of their last 20 games. Washington is an incredible 14–3 this season when allowing three runs or less. Offensively, Daniel Murphy leads Washington with 34 hits, Bryce Harper has 24 RBI and Jayson Werth has four home runs. Tanner Roark gets the ball, and he’s 2–2 with a 2.03 ERA and 30 strikeouts this season. This will be Roark’s second career game against the Royals.
Kansas City Royals
The Kansas City Royals have lost nine straight games when scoring three or less runs. Eric Hosmer leads Kansas City with 32 hits, Mike Moustakas has 11 RBI and Salvador Perez has four home runs. Chris Young takes the hill, and he’s 1–4 with a 6.12 ERA and 26 strikeouts this season but is 3–2 vs the Nationals with a 2.75 ERA and 43 strikeouts. LF Alex Gordon is struggling at the plate and just 2–22 with 9 strikeouts in his last 7 games. The Royals really need to start swinging the bats to help out their pitching staff. It’s still early but not too early to be concerned about the lack of offensive production.
Puss Williamson’s Power Play Prediction
The Royals rank 27th in the league in scoring and 23rd in home runs. The lack of offensive production becomes a big mental hurdle for this team to overcome and with Roark on the mound for Washington, it might not get any easier this evening. Roark has struck out 21 in his last two starts after fanning just nine over 17 innings in his first three outings. He has gone seven frames without allowing a run three times this season, the other coming when he gave up four hits against Atlanta on April 13. My money is on the Nationals tonight considering Chris Young has experienced trouble retiring Harper (4-for-8, one homer) and Wilson Ramos (2-for-2, two homers).
Prediction: Washington Nationals +105 (Pinnacle)
