Texas Rangers vs Cleveland Indians
Line: Rangers -105 | Indians -115, O/U 9 | Game Time: 7:10 pm
The Texas Rangers edged the Cleveland Indians out last night by a score of 2–1. The Rangers got a standout performance from pitcher Tyson Ross who allowed just 2 hits and a run over 6 innings of work. The win pushed the Rangers to one game over .500 (39–38), while the loss pushed the Indians to (40–36) but they still hold 1st place in the AL Central.
The Rangers will turn to Yu Darvish (6–5, 3.12 ERA) on Wednesday, while the Indians counter with Trevor Bauer (6–6, 5.53 ERA).
Yu Darvish is fresh off his best start of the season, despite walking off the mound with a no decision. Darvish pitched 7.0 innings, gave up 2 hits, 0 ER and 10 strikeouts vs the Yankees. Darvish has given up just 72 hits in 101 innings and is 1–1 in his last three starts with a 2.84 ERA.
Texas has some power in their lineup but their offense has been a little inconsistent this season. Elvis Andrus leads the team with a .295 batting average, Nomar Mazara leads the team with 47 RBI’s and Joey Gallo leads the team with 20 home runs, despite hitting .198 on the season.
The Indians have some solid bats this season as well. Jose Ramirez led the way coming into Tuesday with 92 hits, 51 runs, 12 homers and 35 RBI, while Francisco Lindor had 75 hits, 43 runs, 14 homers and 36 RBI.
Baur is (3–2) at home this season but his ERA is 5.18 at Progressive Field.
If Darvish can get any run support it should be enough for him to secure the win. His last outing was a gem and he has pitched relatively well despite his record. Baur has been up and down which makes it difficult to back him vs the Rangers ace. I like the Rangers as road dogs in this matchup.
