Washington Betting Preview

The Washington Commanders are (4–4–1 ATS) and (3–2 SU) on the road this season after beating the Patriots last weekend in Foxborough. QB Sam Howell is starting to come into his own and although he is just 5–5 as a starting quarterback, Howell has the second most passing yards in the NFL with 2471, only behind Tua Tagovailoa of the Dolphins. The big knock has been turnovers as he enters this matchup with 9 interceptions on the year including 1 in each of his last 3 games and 4 in a game against Buffalo earlier in the season. Defensively, the Commanders will need to find a new identity after trading away two of their best players Chase Young and Montez Sweat. The defensive unit has a lot to improve upon as they allow 27.2 PPG which is last in the NFL and over 368 total yards per game which ranks near the bottom of the league.

Seattle Betting Preview

The Seahawks had their two-game winning streak snapped by the Ravens in a blowout loss on the road last week. It has been a shakey ride this season for QB Geno Smith and the offense but the good news is they return home where they are (3–1 SU) on the season and winners of two straight in Lumen Field. Seattle averages 21.4 PPG on offense while allowing 21.9 PPG but at home this team has averaged over 23 PPG while allowing 21.7 PPG. This offense and defense need to be better on 3rd down where they average just 32% and an NFL-worst 45% 3rd down allowed rating for the defense. Part of the problem has been Geno Smith who has thrown 8 interceptions killing drives so they will need to improve their efficiency against the Washington team that can put up points.

Oddsmakers have factored in the win for Washington last weekend and Seattle’s terrible loss to one of the best teams in the NFL. However, Lumen Field is a very difficult venue to play for any opposing team and the Seahawks are still in contention for the NFC West. Washington faces a tough task with back-to-back road games and their fourth road game out of their last five games. As usual this time of year, the weather for this game has about a 50% chance of rain and will be in the high 40s-low 50s. That could have an impact on the passing game and turnovers. In this matchup, the edge lies with the Seahawks. Pete Carroll will have this team ready to play after their embarrassing loss last week and the Seahawks are always going to be a tough out, especially at home where the 12th man really comes into play. This will be a game that Washington will really miss the two defensive players they traded away and I expect the Seahawks to control the tempo. The Seahawks' last two losses were to Baltimore and Cincinnati, two of the best teams in the NFL, and Washington is not on the same level as these two teams. Give me the Seahawks at home laying the -5.5 points.

Washington vs. Seattle Pick: Seattle Seahawks -5.5
