We have big news.

Verifi Media is set to launch the music industry’s first-ever blockchain-anchored data engine and registration service for musical works, in partnership with Barcelona-based EU IME, Unison Rights in Q1 of next year.

So how does it work?

Verifi’s side-by-side data comparison and consensus setting technology allows works and recordings to be linked together and different parties to collaborate on a shared truth. This enables artists, writers, administrators, or any other stakeholder, to easily and efficiently manage and track changes of their assets overtime. Using a system with multiparty data sharing helps everyone in the industry better navigate the inherently complex & ever-changing nature of the music rights ecosystem.

By leveraging Verifi’s technology, clients like FUGA and Unison are able to ensure the metadata quality of the works and recordings they administer for their clients. What is so monumental — you may ask — about our partnership with Unison Rights?

For the first time, Verifi’s ecosystem will be populated with recordings AND works — bringing the full spectrum of rights for a song together. Linking works to recordings data from the direct data sources themselves, empowers the recorded music industry with a game-changing solution to historic, complex problems plaguing the music industry — such as lost or missing works data floating into the digital supply chain.

Unison has already been hard at work since their public launch in 2020 to bring the most modern technologies to their members. The music rights management entity currently manages 740,000 for over 130 clients, including leading songwriters, producers, music publishers, and other international CMOs. This milestone launch with Verifi Media marks the company as the world’s first music rights management entity to ever work with blockchain technology from inception.

“We are thrilled to be working with Verifi in such a ground-breaking project. After years of hard work and innovation, the music works ownership data management platform that we dreamed of is now a reality. We believe that Verifi’s data engine will help bring more transparency into the global music data ecosystem, which will decisively enable fairer and faster distributions,” said Jordi Puy, Chief Executive Officer of Unison.

“Now more than ever we need to apply technology to support creators and contribute to improve music copyright usage identification, collection, and distribution. We hope that every stakeholder, from writers to independent and major publishers, as well as to rights management organizations, will join this revolution for the benefit of all.

Verifi’s data engine solution leverages the most advanced technologies — including enterprise blockchain, AI, data scoring, and audio watermarking to finally answer the decade-long debate of the digital age: Who owns the rights to this song?”

In partnership with many key players, Verifi’s hard-working specialists developed and tested the multiparty, interoperable data engine for over four years. Passionate about bringing more transparency and efficiency to the industry — and fiercely driven by their cause — our team of experts wouldn’t rest until they discovered how to achieve their goal of leveraging the most advanced technologies ( including enterprise blockchain, AI, data scoring, and audio watermarking) to form a collective truth about data and ownership rights between all stakeholders in a media value chain. Our data engine solution is a massive stepping stone for our team at Verifi, because it marks the transition from a once-distant vision into a fathomable reality.

With a completely reinvented approach to determining who owns and administers the rights to a song, the data engine solution streamlines complex metadata and media asset management with a significantly better way to manage changes in both internal and external data.

“For years we have been developing and testing our approach to solving overarching ownership data problems to help fast-forward transformation of the music industry into a data-driven business.

We’re really excited to make these critically-needed, modern solutions available and launch our blockchain data engine and registration service that can better support stakeholders across the entire recorded music value chain,” said Ken Umezaki, Co-Founder and CEO of Verifi Media.

Now — with Verifi’s blockchain data engine and registration service available for both recordings and copyrighted works — the company is aligning two vital industry verticals within the same data hub environment to share data, which will allow Verifi clients to take advantage of better dynamic data for their businesses.

Now that is big news.
