Picture this. You’re shopping for a jacket at your favorite department store and a new brand catches your eye. You tap your smartphone on its sleeve and learn the full story covering the brand’s history, the jacket’s technical features, and most importantly, where and how it was manufactured, so you know that it was ethically produced.

You leave the store, jacket in hand. You don’t normally register for warranties or loyalty programs, because they’re a hassle to navigate, but with the same tap of your smartphone, your purchase is covered and you get reward points for being a customer.

Years later, you list your jacket for sale online. Counterfeits are everywhere, but your jacket sells quickly and at a premium because your buyer knows that they can verify its authenticity with 100% certainty with the same tap.

Since then, you’ve become a customer for life. And the brand has the means to thank you for your support. You’re always receiving exclusive event invitations, music tracks, access to free VIP services (like Uber Black and Airport Lounges), and customized discounts. You enjoy an exciting and direct relationship with the brand that’s never before been possible.

Impressed? Our tiny, versatile microchip enables all of this and more. And not just for jackets, but for any physical product.

Our Story

Verisium was born from a passion to open a new relationship between brands and their customers that’s rooted in trust and transparency. This transparency takes many forms, from giving customers more and better information about what they’re buying to giving brands the tools that they need to communicate with and reward their best customers.

Our company was founded by two former classmates, Eldar and Vadim, who brought together two very different career paths. Eldar, a product visionary and engineering leader, was at the global cybersecurity firm Kaspersky and Vadim, a senior project manager and digital transformation expert, was at one of the largest fashion and apparel retailers in the world. The two reunited to adapt the tech Eldar developed at Kaspersky, with Kaspersky’s full support, and apply it to the world of physical goods. They saw Verisium as both the culmination of major industry trends and the solution to growing problems.

Big Picture Trends

It was only until recently that Verisium’s tech was even possible. For example, our NFC-based microchip would have been too expensive to manufacture and deploy at scale only a few years earlier and few phones back then would have supported it anyway (Apple only opened up NFC scanning in late 2017). But today, production prices are reasonable and every major Android phone and iPhone is compatible out of the box.

Verisium’s tech also addresses many of the urgent challenges that brands face today. These challenges include the limitations and easy hijacking of QR codes, increasing demands by customers for more sustainably and ethically produced merchandise, the rise of sophisticated counterfeiting operation, and the difficulty companies face in getting to know and reward their customers who often buy their products in channels outside their control: online, on the secondary market, and in big department store chains.

In sum, Verisium arrives at exactly the right moment in time when it’s needed most.

Looking Forward

From our humble beginnings, Verisium is now a team of 15 full-time employees and growing. We’re opening offices in Milan, Amsterdam, and Paris, and are working with major brands like 3M alongside emerging labels like Thebe Magugu, OUTLAW, Codered, Cloudburst, Pangaia, White Crow, AOKU. We’ve proven our product works and, more than that, that it is embraced.

Our story is only just beginning and we’re excited to have you along for the journey.
