Was David O’Leary Executed in His Own Home?
David O’Leary was 31 in 2008 and residing in a luxury house in Lydden, six miles from the town of Margate. He had been with his partner, Emma Terry, for ten and half years, and they shared three young children. He was also the owner of a scaffolding company. David appeared to be happy and prosperous, and on the 1st March of that year, he returned home at 2:30 a.m. after enjoying an evening with Emma, where he was gunned down and fatally shot.
What followed has led to rife speculation and gossip involving hired killers, the arson of listed attractions and drug syndicates. It also has burdened David’s father with thirteen years of trying to find those responsible for the death of his son and justice for his family. Something that continues to evade him to this day.
On the night of the murder, David and Emma went to nightclubs in Margate and Broadstairs. These are seaside towns that, like many in the South-East and the country, had fallen victim to low-cost holidays abroad. The once picturesque and bustling cities were now, in many parts, dilapidated and blighted by drugs, crime and poverty. Since the murder occurred, there have been great strides in the gentrification of these towns; however, in 2008, they were in the midst of their darkest days.
