Consensus, held in June 2022 in Austin, USA, is the largest Crypto event in the world, and as such, it brings together Blockchain developers from all over the world. For this reason, Hackathon events were held by major Layer 1 such as Cardano, Solana, and NEAR Protocol during the event.

Team verse2’s development team participated in the Consensus event to discuss collaborations with various teams and identify market trends. As well as the NEAR Hacker House Hackathon held by NEAR Protocol. In particular, since the NEAR Protocol is the most popular Layer 1 in the market these days, verse2’s developers have been conducting research continuously with great interest. Therefore, members of the development team participated in the NEAR Protocol Hackathon, judging that it was a good opportunity to understand the characteristics of the NEAR Protocol and the development environment through participation in the Hackathon.

As a result, we won the first prize (1st Winner) in the two Hackathon categories of NEAR Protocol, Aurora (EVM Layer2 of NEAR Protocol) and Meta Pool (Liquid Staking Solution representing the ecosystem of NEAR Protocol). . (This is also the most number of crowns in the corresponding Hackathon. :) )

Product Description

The product that Team verse2 created during the Hackathon was <Clash of the Multiverse>, a game based on the Liquidity Mining DeFi protocol. A typical Liquidity Mining DeFi is a service where you put in your assets and receive interest on them, with no special variables. We started with the idea that if we added some variables to it, we could make it into a kind of game. We decided that this model was suitable for a hackathon where we had to complete the development of a product within 2~3 days.

Specifically, we created a structure based on the Liquidity Mining DeFi model that allows the player to take interests from other players’ interest farming operations in addition to his interest farming operations and added a gaming element.

The Liquidity Miner will have his area, or land while depositing LPs. This land is a space for interest farming, and any interest that comes out of this space can be harvested. However, at the same time, they have the chance to attack adjacent land (the area where another Liquidity Miner has deposited LP). They can take away the interest generated in the area with a random win rate.

Thus, attacks and defenses can occur between Liquidity Miners, and the probability of such attacks and defenses occurring is random, but this probability can be adjusted through items. This item is the VERSE Token, the Governance Token of <Clash of the Multiverse> and stNEAR. Having a Token economy has the deflationary effect of reducing the volume of Layer 1 Native Tokens in circulation while simultaneously overcoming the persistent inflationary issues commonly experienced by most DeFi protocols. Furthermore, <Clash of the Multiverse> has been developed as if it were a single game in terms of UX/UI, placing and embodying characters, combat, etc.

Comments from the Development Team

L(Engineer at Team verse2) :

“We are interested in a variety of L1 and L2 protocols that can optimize DeFi services, such as Avalanche, Solana, and Optimism, and are, in fact, discussing collaboration with a number of teams. Among them, NEAR is the L1 protocol that we are most interested in because it embodies high speed and high stability with its unique sharding technology. It was great to have this Hackathon to understand the structure of the NEAR system and to experience first-hand the development environment of the Aurora chain, which is L2 for NEAR and EVM compatible.”

S(Engineer at Team verse2) :

“Upon hearing the news that there was a NEAR Hackathon, we went through an idea brainstorming session and quickly selected an initial project. We then proceeded to develop the project according to each person’s role and completed the initial version production in three days until the demo trial performance.

The Aurora Chain development environment of the NEAR ecosystem, an EVM-based environment familiar to the development team, allowed us to produce quickly, and we were able to produce a quality project and win awards because of the excellent development team members who were able to collaborate according to their assigned roles, including front-end development and contract development.”
