Oracle Cloud Global Payroll has come up with yet another set of exciting enhancements with its latest 23B release. Here is a quick look at each of them.

Values Defined by Criteria Search Options

Currently, search criteria are only based on Name, and Group as shown below and unless we know the Name, it's difficult to search for the Values defined by Criteria:

Now, we can search on Criteria and Criteria Name as well, so for example, if we enter Allowance as Criteria Value, we can retrieve all the Values defined by Criteria for any allowances in payroll.

Generated Report Formats

All the Main Payroll reports can now have their outputs generated utilising the regional settings of the user who submits these reports, like language, date formats etc.

The report output, parameter values, and messages can all meet the Preference setup and Regional settings of the user. Most of the main Payroll reports can all be generated as such:

Candidate records are no longer visible in Payroll Searches

Payroll responsive pages need search records to return only payroll-related assignments for employees who are on Payroll.

For example, searches on Personal Payment Methods, or Payroll Relationships don’t need candidate records that are not active on the payroll. This new 23B feature has now restricted these candidate records from appearing in these search results.

Event Notification for a Person

Suppose you have been paid incorrectly, and have to do a retroactive amendment/correction. In that case, an Event Notification is generated to alert the Retropay flow that this employee needs to be picked for recalculation of historical changes and Arrears payments.

This Event notification page can now be accessed from the Person Smart Navigation Menu. This is so much more useful for Payroll administrators and will help them view employees’ retroactive payroll changes easily.

Responsive Person Costing Page

Individual Costings can be either 100% into one account, or split into two or more accounts. This is now a Responsive page, where you can view the Effective Dated changes, and take Actions like Delete, and Edit Costings much more efficiently.

You can see the previous Costing on the same page as you Edit your costing to compare!

Payroll Flow Submission Parameters

Payroll Flows have Person and Location Fields in Payroll Flow parameters that are now ‘Type to Search’ and can be partially typed to quickly retrieve a specific person or location.

Again, this is handy for Payroll administrators, who sometimes run processes for a specific person or location.

Roll back Errors from Process Results

The Rollback Errors action can now be accessed from the Person Results and the Process Results Summary pages.

My Client Groups > Flow Submission and Results > Person Results or Process Results Summary choose Rollback Errors from the task menu for the process on the summary page.

Absence and Time Entries from Calculation Entries page

The calculation Entries Page was used to directly access Calculation Cards like Statutory Deductions for PAYE and NI. Now we can configure this using Design Studio to directly access Absence Records, as well as OTL Time card fields. Again, this is a useful navigation that would help Payroll Administrators.

Redwood Experience for Year-End Documents

The Redwood Reference Application (RRA) enables the Visual Builder App for the Documents of Records page. Year End Documents like P60, P11D from Document of Records (Me> Quick Actions> Year End Documents) can all now be configured into a user-friendly visual.

This can be enabled from the Profile Option ORA_PAY_YEAR_END_DOCUMENTS_REDWOOD_ENABLED

The ORA_PAY_ENABLE_PREVIEW_MODE profile option can be used to enable a preview of the year-end PDF documents without having to download them.

The redesigned page offers you the following:

  • View by default, year-end documents for the last three years.
  • Enter a From Date and To Date, to view year-end documents for a specific date range.
  • If you have multiple payroll relationships, documents pertaining to all of your payroll relationships are displayed on the page.
  • Use the Open PDF option to view the PDF version of a document.

When you search for documents over a span of years, a separate tile is displayed on the page for each year. The year-specific tiles are differentiated by distinct colours or pictures to allow easy access to documents for each specific year.

I’m excited that these enhanced features have so much scope to massively improve efficiency in the day-to-day processing of payroll for our customers.
