In the dynamic landscape of human capital management (HCM), payroll remains a pivotal function. Oracle Fusion Cloud Payroll, with its robust features and continuous enhancements, ensures accurate and efficient payroll processing for organizations worldwide. Let’s explore the key changes introduced in the 24B release:

Redwood Experiences

Redwood Experience for Personal Payment Methods, Bank and Payroll relationships page

Here are the key features:

  • Card layout for summary of Payment method on each card: The redesigned personal payment method page provides a more efficient and modernised view for managing the personal payment methods for employees. Each card provides a concise summary of payment method information, including details like payment method name, payment amount, and bank information (when applicable)
  • Easy Bank Search by Branch Identifier: Users can search for a bank by its Branch Identifier codes for US, UK and CA regions.
  • Redesigned Redwood Payroll Relationships page allows you to take advantage of the Redwood look and feel to manage employee assignment records for payroll statutory calculation and reporting purposes.

Redwood Payslip: Group Earnings and Deductions

The Redwood Payslip feature enhances the appearance of earnings and deductions on payslips. It allows you to display these amounts based on the element primary classification. For example, deductions can now be grouped under headings such as pre-tax deductions and voluntary deductions.

Events: Payroll Evaluation Status

You can now view the status of the payroll notification processing for an event and take necessary actions. When an event is triggered, the payroll application generates event notifications for features such as retroactive recalculation of payroll and retro pay for late hires. This development provides better view into the payroll evaluation process and allows you to address any issues promptly.

Payroll Background Process: Enhancements

The payroll background process is an ESS process that runs continuously in the background to improve the performance of various payroll features. In the 24B release, Oracle has introduced enhancements to enhance its efficiency and functionality. The application checks the background process is running continuously when information is loaded using certain flows like Generate HCM Rate process. The process is also checked and if necessary restarted, when HCM Data Loader (HDL) files are loaded to payroll certain business objects. The payroll application includes safeguards to ensure the process is running continuously, and if required it’s automatically restarted if it stops for some reason.

Translation Fix for Payment Register and Third-Party Payment Register Report

The translation fix addresses any localization or language-related issues in the Payment Register and Third-Party Payment Register Report. It ensures that the content is accurately displayed in the appropriate language for users across different regions. The configuration group parameter changes ensures that payment-related terms, descriptions, and labels are correctly localized based on the user’s language preferences.

Compressing report output for Global Payroll reports

You can now compress large files of payroll report outputs and log files before uploading them to the UCM server. Before running the report, create a process configuration group and add the process configuration parameter: Compressed Output. This feature helps optimize storage and transmission of report files.

Number formatting in Payroll Global Reports

There have been enhancements related to number formatting in payroll reports where the improvements ensure that numeric values are displayed correctly and consistently across various payroll reports. When generating payroll reports, it’s crucial to present numerical data accurately for the users to validate and submit. The new features address formatting issues that may have affected the readability of numeric values in previous versions.

The Consistent Formatting for these numeric values (such as salary, deductions, or earnings) will now follow a standardized format while using various output formats of MS Excel, PDF, Text. Proper formatting reduces the risk of misinterpreting or mishandling payroll information. Also, these enhancements are automatically applied to relevant reports. The users do not need to take any specific action; the system handles the formatting behind the scenes.

Navigation to Results Pages

The navigation to Results Details page is feasible and to each of the result pages for a person, even if some of the results pages haven’t yet been redesigned to the Redwood standards.

When you click on either the Costing Results or the Messages tab, the page displays a message and a link to the page. Certain steps needs to be followed to achieve this.

HCM Data Loader User Access Security supported in Payroll Flows

You can now utilize the Load HCM Data File and Load HCM Data Spreadsheet tasks to load data files or spreadsheets via a payroll flow. The user security and roles are taken into consideration while loading a file using payroll flow. The features simplifies and enhances the data loading process.

Update Prior Period Payroll Cost Results

The new ‘Upgrade Cost Results’ feature in the ‘Run Feature Upgrade’ payroll flow allows users to upgrade the prior period payroll cost results for assignment, tax reporting unit, and the calculation breakdown values from the payroll run results. Additional information such as year must be provided. This will make adjustments to prior period results much easier.

Additional Payroll Features enhanced to apply Element Security

The Element Security Profile applies to Manage Elements, Balance Adjustments and certain REST services. This now extends its restriction to elements using the HCM Data Roles and the Elements Security Profiles task flow. The complete list of features supporting can be found on Oracle website.
