Working in PeopleSoft support teams can be like any firefighter constantly putting fires out from all areas. There is hardly any time to take a break, let alone go through the image highlights to determine the most interesting enhancements for your organisation.

Usually, the enhancements are addressed during an upgrade but now features are being introduced on a regular basis through the PUM images.

Here are, in our opinion, the nice features and areas of interest relating to FSCM Image 39.

Delegation Framework

Delegation Framework was introduced in Image 33 and now in Image 39 it has been enhanced to additional modules which are Billing (BI), Receivables (AR), Purchasing (PO), Payables (AP), Strategic Sourcing and Services Procurement.

The Delegation framework allows an existing approver to delegate the authority of transactional approval to another user. The delegation framework enables three areas of delegation: upward, downward, and lateral.

This is extremely useful to those managers who receive transactional approvals from various modules. They can now delegate by defined transaction to user with the same role, so for example a manager can delegate BI & AR transactions to the AR supervisor and the PO & AP transactions to AP supervisor.

This feature uses fluid, so it is accessed through the tiles on the dashboard and will require configuration if your organisation does not currently use fluid.

Journal Source Security

PeopleSoft continues to invest in delivering new security features to ensure that sensitive application data viewing and processing is protected. In the earlier images, PeopleSoft introduced a feature of enhancing journal-level security based on Journal Source where the Journal Posting allows to only to users that access this security role.

In image 39, PeopleSoft has now extended this security feature to restrict access to the Journal Source list at journal entry. The configuration is based on Business Unit, User and Role. This feature is also available for flat-file import processes and Spreadsheet Journal Import.

Data Privacy Framework

Data Privacy Framework was introduced in earlier images within PeopleSoft Financials applications. Data privacy manages the appropriate handling of an individual’s sensitive and personal information. Many organizations face the challenge of protecting privacy and personally identifiable information especially in countries where there is a legislative requirement such as GDPR.

PeopleSoft has delivered features that comply with data privacy laws, which allows organisations to mask sensitive and personal data. In Image 39, PeopleSoft has extended the Data Privacy Framework feature for Query Masking.

PeopleSoft now supports the masking of sensitive fields in Queries to ensure data privacy. Query masking is managed by security roles to access the sensitive records fields. Only authorised users can access Queries where sensitive data exists.
