“Fluid Recruiting” is the Oracle move from the existing Adobe Flash based version of Taleo to html5 due to the retirement of Flash on December 31, 2020. With the 20B Upgrade, Fluid Recruiting is available by default, however, the current Flash-based Taleo is still available through to the end of December 2020 providing customers with the ability to continuing using legacy recruiting while they make the transition to Fluid.

Many of our customers have now moved from Legacy Recruiting to Fluid UI which makes for a cleaner, easier to use experience. In their journey to adapt to fluid changes, we have assisted clients by testing the functionality in Fluid UI and in the process identified some key benefits and issues that we have worked to resolve.

So let’s start by looking at the positives!

Key Benefits

Easy to configure: Fluid is simple to configure. Once activated, users will see a new link, “Fluid Recruiting”, on their Welcome Centre’s Quick Access links.

Mobile Support: The ease of using the application on Mobile or tablet has made the hiring process easier and faster. Hiring Managers can access Candidate Information, preview resumes and provide feedback all while on the go via a mobile device.

Intuitive Display: Key information about candidates are readily available to Recruitment Team like resume review and arrow next buttons, current step/status, recruiter and hiring manager and reduces the number of clicks.

Search Filters: The advanced search filters provides faster and better results for requisitions, submissions, and candidates.

Requisition Search Filters

And now for a few configuration issues that we have identified and worked with Clients to resolve.

A few Issues:

Branding: Fluid UI provides default blue background with Oracle Taleo regardless of the logo customers are using in Legacy Recruiting. We found that customers have to upload the logo again to make it visible in Fluid UI, however, the background colour cannot be changed.

Layout: Fluid is optimised for 3 column layouts in Requisition, Candidate and Submission forms. Therefore, any customer using 2 column layouts in any of these forms, will see that fields will be automatically adjusted to 3 columns.

Custom Label change: By default, Fluid is using the legacy label. To apply the customised label In Fluid UI, a service request with Oracle needs to be submitted and provide the list of customised resources.

To Conclude…

Despite these few issues, the new Taleo Fluid UI has without a doubt improved process efficiency and modernised the backend user experience for Recruiters, Hiring Managers and other key stakeholders and a good job too, as it’s here to stay!
