Microsoft has announced that it will deprecate WordPad in a future release of Windows. The company says that WordPad is no longer being actively developed and will not receive new features or updates. As a result, it will be removed from future versions of Windows, with a full removal happening with Windows 12.

WordPad is a basic text editor that has been included with Windows since the Windows 95 operating system. It allows users to create and edit documents with formatted text, images, and links. However, it has been overshadowed by Microsoft Word, which is a more powerful word processor.

Microsoft is recommending that users who need a word processor switch to Microsoft Word. The company also says that Windows Notepad is a good option for users who need a basic text editor.

In the meantime, users who rely on WordPad should start planning to switch to a different word processor. Microsoft Word is a good option, but there are also many other free and open source word processors available.
