Meteor Lake is a code name for Intel’s 14th-generation Core processors, which are expected to be released in late 2023 or early 2024. Microsoft is working closely with Intel on Meteor Lake, and the two companies have announced several joint initiatives related to the new platform, including:
- AI for the masses: Intel and Microsoft are working to make AI more accessible and effective for PC users with Meteor Lake. Meteor Lake will be the first PC platform from Intel featuring a built-in neural VPU, a dedicated AI engine integrated directly on the SoC to power efficiently run AI models. Microsoft is also developing new AI-powered features and applications for Windows that will be optimized for Meteor Lake.
- DirectML: DirectML is a Microsoft-developed API that enables developers to accelerate AI workloads on Windows devices. Intel is working with Microsoft to optimize DirectML for Meteor Lake, which will allow developers to create even faster and more efficient AI applications.
