What is Publishing 101?
Publishing 101 is a new series of blog posts designed to give people outside the publishing industry some basic information on the fundamental features of academic publishing. Posts will range from short posts outlining what DOIs and ISSNs are, to more complex topics such as types of open access and third party services. They are designed as entry-level information to help people who are running their own journals, or are thinking of starting their own journals.

Why have we started Publishing 101?
It has been brought to our attention from our discussions with librarians who work with and advise researchers, that there is a lack of basic information available to the faculty who are running their own journals. Where academics have the subject expertise and network to build useful journals for their community, they don’t necessarily have the information to make sure their journals are available, accessible, discoverable, and archived. We hope that this blog series will help provide a real resource for these researchers.

Have a suggestion?
Is there a topic you would like us to cover? Is there an acronym that people throw around that you’ve never understood? Drop us a line and we would happy to put something together to help explain it. Just email us at info@veruscript.com.

We hope these posts will be useful, and we look forward to hearing from you.
