FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New open access journal Veruscript Functional Nanomaterials launches. The first science journal to use Veruscript’s reviewer rewards programme.

London, UK, 27 January, 2017: Veruscript is pleased to announce the launch of Veruscript Functional Nanomaterials, a new open access journal exploring the function of nanomaterials. The journal is the first science journal to employ Veruscript’s innovative reviewer rewards programme, which offers peer reviewers the choice of cash, credits towards future publication, or the chance to pay their rewards forward to the community.

Professor Yanqiu Zhu, Chair of Functional Materials at the University of Exeter is the journal’s Editor-in-Chief, and leads a prestigious, international editorial team. Professor Zhu commented: “Nanomaterials are an increasingly important part of our lives and there is a real necessity in the community for a journal examining their functionalities. I am delighted to be Editor-in-Chief of this exciting and much needed journal. The fact the journal is open access and utilises Veruscript’s reviewer reward programme gives researchers in our field an open, fair and sustainable way to publish their research.”

The new journal brings together research from materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, electrical engineering and chemistry to function as a resource for the whole community. It aims to bridge the gap between fundamental materials discovery and advances in technology.

Lisa Walton, Executive Editor at Veruscript said: “We are delighted to have such a prestigious and experienced editor and editorial board. This journal has been launched in response to a real need in the community and Professor Zhu and his team will work hard to make sure this need is met.”

Veruscript Functional Nanomaterials is an online-only journal, using the gold open access model. Article processing charges are £1000 per article, but are currently waived for all researchers. Articles are published online at www.versucript.com/fnan.
