100% of Abortions Are Caused By Men

I know some on the right, especially the religious right, think of science as theory. So it shouldn’t surprise me that the fact that all pregnancies are caused by men seems to elude them.

In North America (claimed) condom use peaked at 20.4% in 1995 as a result of the AIDS epidemic but it has fallen steadily since. Today that number has dipped to 16.4% as reported by National Health Statistics Report.

This is because men (#NotAllMen) prefer to “ride bareback” which the Urban Dictionary defines as follows:

“The best way to have sex, without a condom. Actually much safer than sex with a condom because if you get an STD twice, they cancel out and you are immune to that perticular STD for the rest of your life.”

The reasons men don’t like condoms range from the hassle of having to purchase them, embarrassment buying them, having to remember to have one in your pocket, the uncomfortable moments it takes to put it on, how sex doesn’t feel as good with it on.

Men participating in research trials of oral male birth control (imagine how difficult it is to round up volunteers) reported so-called “severe” side effects — weight gain of 1 to 3 pounds, acne and depression — which were deemed, by both participants and physicians, to be serious enough that the trial was aborted midway through.

In contrast, the side effects of erectile dysfunction meds are, from minor to life threatening- headaches, flushing, nasal congestion, upset stomach, lightheadedness, “blue-tinted” vision, back pain, muscle pain, nausea, rash, chest pain, shortness of breath, severe headaches, fainting, painful hours-long erections, visual impairment, urinary tract infections, diarrhea, permanent damage to the penis, and heart attacks.

And yet, 30 million North American men use ED drugs and they make up 55.0% of the global ED market. Go figure.

In studying the market for male birth control, pharmaceutical companies determined that because of the above mentioned factors it wasn’t worth investing the time and funds in more research and development because there’s no money in it. And because they believe/know that men (#NotAllMen) will not use contraception reliably.

In the U.S., roughly 10.6 million women take hormonal birth control pills every day. The side effects they can expect to deal with, without complaint include impaired vision, mood swings, weight gain, vaginal discharge, missed periods, extra unexpected periods, lowered libido, breast tenderness, and nausea.

And that’s if you’re lucky. If you’re unlucky hormonal contraception can cause blood clots, stroke, heart attacks, anxiety, depression, infertility, cervical and breast cancer, osteoporosis, and liver tumors.

In North America 27% of women have had a tubal ligation but only 9+% of men have had vasectomies. This, despite the fact that vasectomies are much cheaper, less invasive and have almost no recovery time. My husband had one in a doctors’ office, it took 25 minutes and he experienced less than 24 hours of discomfort.

Deep down men know that they cause pregnancy, but condoms kill the mood, medications cause micro weight gain (not to mention the hassle of going to the doctor for a full physical exam, and the cost of the appointment, and the bill at the pharmacy) and vasectomies hurt men’s tender balls and egos.

So they cum inside you because it feels better, it gives them a feeling of power and because they don’t give a shit about the consequences of their 5 second orgasm on the lives of women, fetuses or unwanted children. Male ejaculation is the only thing that causes pregnancy both wanted and unwanted. Until every man practices (every damn time) responsible ejaculation they have no business in the abortion “debate”.

Period.
