Maggie and Will set out to answer the question, “Whatever happened to Rick Moranis?

After taking a brief break from the podcast, Maggie and Will are back with what they’d like to call a “deep-dive episode” (better name to come), where they delve into a specific topic of dadness and analyze it through this new lens of film criticism they’re slowly developing.

This first deep-dive episode is about Rick Moranis, the comedic actor best known for playing roles like Louis Tully, Dark Helmet, and Wayne Szalinksi. Maggie and Will highlight the highs and lows of his career, including the roles he didn’t get to play (Ace Ventura), his short-lived animated series (Gravedale High), his 2 successful music albums (The Agoraphobic Cowboy and My Mother’s Brisket and Other Love Songs), and his stint in the early 2000s writing op-ed articles for The New York Times.

But they’re mostly just trying to get to the bottom of 2 things: What ever happened to Rick Moranis and who is he? Who is the man behind these lovable characters we’ve come to know so well, who left Hollywood to raise his kids after his wife’s death, who started out as a DJ in Toronto?

Then, of course, there’s the ultimate question to be answered: Is Rick Moranis a dad actor or just a nice guy? And can the 2 ever overlap?

Don’t touch that thermostat!
