Before You Publish, Ask Three Questions: The Buddha Test for Writers
How an old Buddhist principle can bring clarity, compassion, and courage to your words within ChatGPT
“Before you speak, ask yourself — is it true, is it necessary, is it kind?”
This ancient principle is now the most useful thing I do with ChatGPT. I’ve even given it its own project folder.
No one else will talk to me about my writing. I can’t afford an editor, but setting up a ChatGPT project folder to check these three criteria for me has sped things up in all areas of my writing.
It has also helped me consider my audience more carefully and the wide range of opinions they may hold.
Imagine how it would look if all those millions of social media comments were run through this tool.
Consider the transformation of print and TV Media outlets if this were applied across the board.
How I use it
I never ask ChatGPT to write for me. That would bore me and my readers. However, combined with Grammarly and an Image generator, it is one of the tools I use to create articles that thrill, enlighten, and amuse my readers.
