Once upon a time, in ancient Mesopotamia, the city-states of Sumer developed one of the earliest forms of democracy, where citizens would gather in assembly to make decisions for their city. Centuries later, in the 5th century BCE, the Athenians developed their own version of democracy, allowing all citizens to participate in the decision-making process through regular assemblies. As civilizations continued to rise and fall, the idea of democracy evolved and spread throughout the world, including the American Revolution which brought about the founding of the United States, a republic built on the principles of democracy and individual rights.

But as democracy and societies evolved, so too did technology. With the advent of the internet and the rise of decentralized systems, the potential for true democratization has once again risen. The early internet promised to empower individuals and give them a voice, but it soon became clear that centralized systems could be easily manipulated and controlled by a select few. But now, with the advent of Web 3.0 and the proliferation of decentralized technologies, the potential for true democratization is greater than ever before. This is especially true in the realm of finance, where decentralized markets and applications can enable fairer, more transparent systems that are not controlled by a select few.

And this is where we come in. Like the ancient city-states of Sumer, Athens, and the founding of the United States, Vest Labs is on a mission to envision and shape the ongoing evolution of democracy and decentralization through rigorous and forward-thinking quantitative research.

Very soon, we will be releasing our first product, Vest: a risk-first democratized perpetual futures exchange that empowers users to trade on almost any crypto asset.

We believe this is a necessary step in the pursuit of creating a truly all-inclusive, open, and transparent financial system. We hope that by using our research to challenge the boundaries of what is possible, we make a lasting impact in driving forward the innovation of democracy and development of expression in decentralized finance. If you want to take part in the research and discussion involved, we would love to have you participate here.

We’re incredibly excited and can’t wait to show you what we have been building for the past few months. For more information on our research, view our website here. To be the first on our exchange, sign up for updates on our website here.
