Recalls

Cantrell Drug Company has issued a voluntary nationwide recall of all sterile drug products due to lack of sterility assurance. The affected products include all lots distributed February 16, 2017, to July 19, 2017, remaining within expiry, and they would be packaged in a syringe or IV bag. The company has not received any report of adverse events. Read more here.

Industry News

Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio will be the states of focus of the NAVTA Nurse initiative to standardize the “veterinary nurse” title and credentials. The effort is an attempt to increase awareness of the rigorous training required to be a licensed or registered professional in the field. Read more here.

New Jersey veterinary leaders are meeting with New Jersey lawmakers to attempt to exempt veterinarians from a newly passed act, SB 291, which authorizes health care professionals in the state to establish a relationship with patients remotely. The bill is one of many across the country attempting to address the telemedicine question in veterinary medicine.
