Maxim’s nephew, Barack and Maxim

Maxim Thorne is CEO and Founder of JusticeInvestor. He created the marketplace where plaintiffs, lawyers and funders meet to fight injustice. The acclaimed disruptive platform encourages victims of police brutality and other social and environmental injustices to post their legal cases to get funding and quality legal help. Plaintiffs are given resources to fight wealthy and powerful defendants. Funders invest in important meritorious cases! And Lawyers find great cases, worthy plaintiffs and funding!

Maxim spent his career working on innovative solutions to address inequality and access to justice. As lawyer and a Lecturer and Fellow at Yale University, he created and taught the seminar Philanthropy in Action (http://philanthropyinaction.yale.edu) where his student gave away $100K or more each semester to charity. He credits teaching Philanthropy and his students for the genesis of JusticeInvestor.

Maxim is a highly sought after public speaker, philanthropy and nonprofit consultant and fundraiser. He served as the EVP of Paley Center for Media, Senior VP and CDO and CCO the national NAACP. He was formerly VP and COO of the Human Rights Campaign and HRC Foundation, the CEO of Brooklyn Child and Family Services, the CEO of the NJ Head Start Association and the Deputy Executive Director and Litigation Director of the Passaic County Legal Aid Society.

Mr. Thorne holds a BA in Economics and Political Science (Hons.) from Yale University and a JD from the Yale Law School. He is the founder of Weekend Renewing America’s Promise held in Martha’s Vineyard and around the world. He is a member of the Yale Law School Executive Committee, sits or sat on various Boards including Vets Who Code, GLAAD, the Yale Board of Governors, Yale Black Alumni Association, Academic Committee of the Motion Picture Association of America, and a past participant of Renaissance Weekend.
