On September 28, 2004 I experienced the first day that would change the trajectory of my life. On that day I walked(ran) off a bus while being yelled at by a Drill Instructor for my first day of basic training. That day is one I’ll always remember as it put me on the path to becoming Executive Director of a NonProfit focused on teaching veterans how to code and apply the disciplines ingrained in the military to, not only effectively learn new material but also, help position our veterans to successfully gain employment in the ever growing technology sector. Every day our team focuses on one goal: to provide the resources, experiences and more importantly, a pathway to learn how to code. It is with great pride that we accept an invitation from DreamForce and look forward to sharing our accomplishments and working closely with other link-minded individuals to help improve the lives of the men and women who have dedicated their live to the service of this country.

As tech conferences go, Dreamforce is a big as they get and this is an amazing opportunity for us to network and build lasting relationships with companies that can help provide a positive impact for our organization. That being said, WE NEED YOUR HELP. As a nonprofit we depend on contributions to help provide the level of training needed to help position our veterans for success as they transition into civilian life, at no cost to them. We believe that training, combined with events such as SlackSide chats help provide our students an opportunity to speak with high level developers allowing them to personalize this experience and lead to stories of success such as that of Zed Shaw.

Today, on my “Veteranversary”” we are begin our campaign to help us make the most of this new opportunity and believe this will help us to continue to provide the resources and training needed to keep give back to those who have given so much for their country. So please consider donating $5, $20, $50, or $100 to our organization and help provide us the opportunity to change the life or just one more veteran. They have always been there for us and now it’s our time to be there for them.
