The App

Vetted is a social discovery app giving you access to real, valuable recommendations from folks you know and trust. It uses the connections you already have in your social network.

In addition to finding recommendations from your personal network, you can also recommend your favorite folks and businesses to help:

a colleague find their next role or project
a single friend find someone they click with
your favorite business or organization get more customers or followers

The value of these recommendations is that they are from folks you know, as opposed to recommendations spread across the web from those you don’t know.

Vetted is not about rating folks or places. With Vetted, you can only ‘Vett’ those in which you’d confidently endorse. Likewise, Vetted is a place for positive sentiment only. Only the recipient can approve and only the author can edit.

The Team

Co-Founder and COO

Joe grew tired of the shallow swipes and the algorithmically-run dating apps. He wanted something different. He believed that dating apps are “only for good looking people.” He got together with his old colleague and friend, Scott Davis, to discuss the dilemma.

After noticing how other apps were receiving attention and funding simply for sharing some commonalities on Facebook (movies, schools, majors etc), he thought, “well that’s nice but not meaningful enough.” Just because two folks like science fiction movies or went to UCLA and maybe share a common friend doesn’t make it a match

Joe figured that if the market saw value in these social media commonalities, why not take it to the person level and find out who folks would recommend? This idea would essentially close the loop with a solid recommendation rather than leaving it open ended with simply a common ‘like’ and common friends on Facebook.

Both tech sales and real markets make up most of Joe’s work history. For fun he likes to Tiger Dad his 5th grade daughter and press house music on vinyl records.

Scott Davis

Scott studied engineering in college, but like many of us, he had no idea want he wanted to do when he finished. It was the height of the first ‘Dot Com Bubble’. He found the start-up world fascinating and made his way into the tech industry.

Marketing Analytics was just taking off and they needed smart people who were good at math. Scott loved it. The role was the perfect intersection of creative with analytical skills and an opportunity to really shape tech companies.

When Joe approached him about Vetted, he was skeptical at first. However, having been disappointed on both sides of the hiring process, Scott knew the basic ideas of Vetted could be applied to all kinds of personal recommendations. Why couldn’t it be beneficial to professionals and businesses as well?
