Le Petit Prince juxtaposes the often narrow-minded adult persona against the open-minded nature of children, allowing them to explore the world around them, and within them, through an uncorrupted lens. The main theme of the fable is expressed in the secret that the fox tells the little prince: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly: what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
The original 140-page manuscript of the novella, as well as a number of drafts and early illustrations, are also on permanent display at the Morgan Library & Museum in Manhattan, New York City
