The current circulating supply of the VEY Token is roughly 176 million VEY. The total supply of the VEY Token is 2 billion VEY. These figures have not meaningfully changed since the start of Vey.io, in January 2018.

Vey.io, LLC is the custodian of all VEY tokens that are out of circulation, roughly 1.824 billion VEY.

The low circulating supply of the VEY Token represents a longterm effort, on behalf of Founders Adam & William Franklin, to create a sustainable model for Vey’s use case: a utility token fueling a market research platform.

It is important for the utility of the Vey platform, as well as the liquidity of the VEY Token, that as many people as possible hold VEY. It is also in the best interest of the use case to have as many researchers as possible involved in the utility of the platform.

These are contrasting statements that are both true, so when approaching VEY Token inflation, much planning has gone into finding a fair balance.

An established inflationary model will:

1- Protect token holders.

2- Maximize the amount of VEY Tokens used for research.

3- Allow the Vey team to maintain and grow the platform.

The following token policy creates maximum thresholds for inflation. It must be noted that these thresholds are unlikely to ever be reached.

VEY Token Policy

  1. If the circulating supply of the VEY Token is less than 400 million VEY, inflation of the VEY Token shall not exceed 5% within any 30-day period.
  2. If the circulating supply of the VEY Token is equal to, or greater than, 400 million VEY, inflation of the VEY Token shall not exceed 5% of the total supply within any 30-day period.

How Does This Impact In-Platform Distribution?

All In-Platform Distribution (IPD), or future programs, are not exempt from VEY Token Policy.

IPD will never come close to reaching token policy thresholds, and as of now, the Vey team does not believe that more than 400 thousand VEY will be distributed through the platform in any 30-day period, with even less at the beginning of the program.
