We’re happy to announce the release of Via 0.5.1-alpha for Windows and Mac OSX. The latest release is available at https://via.world and contains a very important upgrade for user experience: Automatic Updates.

Now that the Via application is code-signed on Windows and Mac, we were able to release automatic updates. You’ll no longer have to remove and reinstall Via to get the latest core features. Along with auto-updates, code signing should remove the scary looking warnings when you try to download Via.

In addition, we’ve fixed a handful of bugs related to the omnibar (the fancy search bar at the top of the page). On our website, we’ve added methods to reset your password and client side encryption key (for emergencies). Although keys are only stored on your device’s keychain, we use a server side key to add a further layer of protection (in case your physical device is stolen). This key can now be reset through our website. It will not invalidate your exchange API keys, but it will render them inaccessible to the thief (or anyone else).

On the short term road map:

  • Better support for trade execution and order management.
  • Expanding exchange support.
  • More charting functionality.
