England: Winding Through Windsor

On our way to the outskirts of London, we found some time to briefly visit Windsor Castle. It’s still a fully functioning castle that Queen Elizabeth and family stay at some of the time.

As we toured the interior and walked the grounds we noticed how proper everything fared. The interior housed a menagerie of golden jewels, crowns from colonies past, and ornate weaponry on display throughout the rooms. From the visual of the stately dinners in the great hall to how the guards walk to and fro, the Brits seem to favor order.

The changing of the guards was an especially grand ceremony with the new guards marching in from the street playing drums and the old ones moving on to their next post through a lot of pomp and circumstance. It was pretty cool to see how this ritual has keep up for so many centuries, and how the British keep their traditions alive.
