From zero to the largest airline in Europe, Ryanair is a very special case of airline. It is extremely popular among travelers, a lot because it is a low-cost airline. And because, among low-costs, it’s really low-cost. In this article, we will talk about our experience with Ryanair, giving you our Review!

Landing in the beautiful city of Porto

Introduction

Ryanair is a European airline, based in Ireland. It is known to be a low-cost airline. This means that tickets are typically cheaper than those of traditional companies (such as British Airways, Lufthansa or TAP AirPortugal).

But… How can they sell cheaper tickets? Is there a downside?

Of course!

There’s a catch: all possible and imaginary “extras” are paid. And they are typically well paid! Among these are things like chosing your seat, snacks and drinks, travel insurance and priority (and organized) entry in the aircraft.

Cons

Well, we start with what’s most unpleasant…

Chosing your seat.

This doesn’t exist in Ryanair. Whenever you book with them, it’s their algorithm that chooses where you will be seated. In case your traveling accompanied , it is quite possible that your seats will be separated. The truth is that you’ll probably be well apart!

Besides this, simple things like carry-on and hold baggage are an “extra” well paid for. Of course you can take carry-on bags with you, but if you exceed a certain size you will have to pay for it. In addition, the hold baggage is paid for according to their weight.

Another con of this Review to Ryanair is your boarding… In most airports, forget about access directly from the terminal. As you can see below, you usually go by foot or by bus to the aircraft that is parked somewhere on the taxi-way…

Boarding an aircraft in Bologna, Italy

Besides this problem, boarding Ryanair is somewhat chaotic. This is because there is no organized boarding by seat number or other option.

Of course, nothing happens by chance… This is another way for you to want to… Buy “extras”!

To finish this part, we highlight the flight attendants… Yes, the flight attendants who insistently pass through the isle… Back and forward… Selling perfumes and beverages and snacks. All stupidly expensive.

Pros

Well, it’s a fact… Ryanair flights are cheap. End of story.

That’s how they want to differentiate themselves from their competion. And, in our opinion, they do it like none else!

There are times when flights are at 2€.

2€?!

That’s the price of a subway journey…

But it is Ryanair’s business model: operational efficiency that leaves traditional companies miles away.

Ryanair operates a fleet of 500 aircraft. With these they operate to around 200 destinations all over Europe. And delays are very rare! It’s impressive!

Recently, Ryanair airplanes have had their interiors renewed. The seats are thinner than usual and the overall look has been improved.

To finish this part, we emphasize that the possible discomfort you’ll face is for a short period of time. This is because normally Ryanair flights have a relatively short duration.

Conclusion

We have traveled many times with Ryanair. I believe it’s one of the two most frequent airlines we use. The reason? Simple” The price.

And the availability of flights to destinations of interest. It increasingly looks like they fly everywhere in Europe…

Therefore, we strongly advise you to use it!

It’s not the most comfortable airline in the world, it’s not the one that provides the best customer service, but…

It’s cheap.
And that’s important!
