Running a restaurant business is challenging and exciting. Restaurants try to offer a unique service in a segment to be able to stand out from the crowd. Most of the offerings are around decor, branding, theme, uniqueness of food or drinks and service.

Even if the restaurant industry continues to innovate the likelihood that another restaurant opens with the same services is high. Hence there is always a challenge of maintaining a steady customer base and growing the business.

As restaurants provide 2 services mostly food and beverages and customer service there is always a way to grow the offering to include entertainment. You as a customer, are outside and want to have fun so it always ends up being dinner and a movie or dinner and music often at 2 places. When restaurants include live music as one of the services a restaurant becomes a holistic place for entertainment.

Adding live music does 2 things for a restaurant, one it makes the customer spend more time and money in the restaurant, second it attracts new clientele when music is promoted. This opens up options like introducing brunch or Tuesday night music (as they are mostly down days). As the customer base grows, the existing customers are more engaged, the business has steadier revenues and can use music to get more revenues.

More than a tool for increasing revenues, playing live music makes the restaurant a part of the community. It’s your way to support local artists and one of the ways to give back to the community by supporting artists who are on the way to building a career in music. As these musicians or bands become famous you can always reminisce about the days when they used to play at your restaurant.
