What’s happening in music 🎵

A marketing genius

Childish Gambino completely disappeared from social media in the middle of February. After deleting all of his posts from Twitter and Instagram, he returned with one powerful message — THIS IS AMERICA. His groundbreaking video about the current situation in America got 260 M views on Youtube last month and he gained 1.4 M new followers with one post on Instagram. 1 month later, the Nigerian hip-hop star Falz released a remake of the video which went viral after Diddy expressed his support for the current situation in the country.

Winner of the month: Dua Lipa

In the past 12 months we have seen the 22-year-old Dua Lipa go from a lesser-known pop singer to stadium-filling star. The most streamed female artist in Britain last year was just named one of the 25 most influential British women by Vogue on Thursday. A week ago, she stunned the crowd with her performance at the UEFA Champions League where she also presented her newest collab with the superstar DJ Calvin Harris. With 2 M new followers on Instagram and 136 M plays on YouTube, she keeps climbing to the top of the Viberate chart!

Masters at work

To a lot of artists, social media channels are the most important way of connecting with their fans. We are lucky enough to catch some masters at work. The biggest content influencers on Twitter are K-POP artists. This month, 5 of them completely took over the TOP 10 Twitter chart. The strongest by likes per tweet were BTS, Wanna One, GOT7, Seventeen and Monsta X with 36.6 million tweet likes all together.

The king of Soundcloud

SoundCloud was previously mostly a source of electronic music, but in 2017, things turned upside down. Hip-hop is now completely dominating the platform, while the first non hip-hop artist is MARSHMELLO on #28. And by the way, the Top 10 artists on SoundCloud chart got ½ billion streams altogether this month.

On that note, YouTube is changing to a more latin-oriented platform. Just last month, the Top 10 Latin artists got 2.6 billion views, which is only ½ views less than Despacito got in the whole year. Ozuna is rocking the chart with 385 million views, but Daddy Yankee, Maluma and J Balvin are not far behind.

With our feet in the air and our head on the ground

Research and knowledge are huge keys to success, and to get there, we had to make some pretty bold steps towards the unknown. First off, we focused on developing three completely unique mobile app solutions for bringing the music industry to the next level. A week later, devoted team members went to some of the most important hubs in Europe to test all three ideas. We’ve got to say, we were pretty impressed with the findings. Can’t wait to tell you more.
