Share Your Incredible Creative Expressions!

We know it can be daunting and difficult to share your artistic creations with others. We want to change that and help you join a supportive, reciprocal space.

Regardless of how you may identify (artist, painter, photographer, educator, poet, etc), shared ‘posts’ on Medium are referred to as stories and the contributors are ‘writers’ — please keep this in mind with all guiding text that may follow here and in other spaces across this platform.

At this point, we are manually adding contributors to the publication.

If you have been invited by Susan, the publication’s editor, go through the stages below. (You can click each one for more directions.)

  1. Create a Medium account — Learn how to do so here.
  2. Comment on this post (below) that you’re interested in becoming a contributor! We’ll then add you on our end so you can easily submit moving forward.
  3. Draft your story — Read Medium writing and publishing tips here. (On this platform all pieces you submit are called stories.)
  4. Add a topic (tag) that we use in this publication. Make sure one of your tagged topics is: “poetry” |“art” | or “incite” — if you do not include one of these tagged topics, it will be more difficult for us to categorize the content. Learn how to add topics/tags here.
  5. Publish your story (learn how to do so here).
  6. Submit your story to our Vibrancy Publication (learn how to do so here). Please allow us some time to add you as a contributor (24–48 hours). If you’re still having trouble after this wait period, reach out with any questions you have!
  7. You will receive a notification once your story has been approved and added to Vibrancy!
  8. Check out your story in Vibrancy and share the link with others to read
  9. Read/view/watch other Vibrancy pieces and leave encouraging comments!
  10. Make sure to respond to any comments people leave for you!

What kind of pieces are we looking for?

Poetry

We’ve created a special place to highlight poetry, which can be defined as literature that evokes a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience or a specific emotional response through language chosen and arranged for its meaning, sound, and rhythm.

Art

Beyond merely featuring writings, we want to make sure there’s a dedicated space for visual art as well. If you have paintings, photography or videos to share that stray from words, please submit such pieces too! It’s important that these submissions still have a title and brief description at minimum to help frame them appropriately.

Incite

Through our Incite section of the publication we’re aiming to evoke curiosity and rich dialogue through comments made on inquiry-driven, provocative pieces that encourage us to think differently. If you have a question or alternative view/belief you believe people should take some time to consider and explore with others, please submit it!

Ready to share with us?

We will try to inform each applicant of their application status individually, but you can also check under your profile “publication” to see if you have been granted writer status at Vibrancy.

  • Use Medium’s built-in title and subtitle formatting (T/t). Make your story easy to read for mobile readers and short paragraphs instead of large blocks of text.
  • Stories should be edited to be as error-free as possible and, at minimum, should be run through a spelling and grammar check.
  • A featured image is encouraged to enhance the display of your piece — placed directly below the title and subtitle. However, one is not required. Images must be Creative Common license, or owned by you and notated as such. Name the place of origin on Pexels, or Unsplash, etc., and provide the actual link. Graphics should be visually striking and should not reflect your website. Here’s a link to our style sheet. We may change graphics to fit our style or those that do not comply with Medium’s guidelines. Original graphics created by you are great and should be cited “Graphic created by author.”
  • Send your best work. Please do not overwhelm the queue with multiple submissions or expect responses on non-business days. About once a week feels right for frequency.
  • Submissions should comply with Medium’s content and curation guidelines and should not include affiliate links.

*Additional best practices are shared here.

Thanks in advance for your understanding that we may take some time before personally responding to submission applications.

We’d be delighted if you follow the founder and the publication too. This way, you’ll get notifications when new pieces are published and can stay engaged with other creatives!
