We’ve read a lot about activity trackers and how they have had a major impact on people’s lives. The Fitness Trackers market size is expected to reach $62,128 million by 2023. So I won’t be wrong in saying that people like to track their activities and work on things that need a particular change.

Can this be extrapolated to a larger group of people, let’s say for a company or workshop, where you can track activities to increase productivity? The answer is yes.

In spaces that make use of manual labour, tracking every action of theirs and keeping tabs on their activities can lead to much higher productivity. Our project with the largest automotive manufacturer in India is a testament to that.

Using the Vicara Motion Engine, we ensured that the trackers aren’t a hindrance to the worker and every gesture is mapped to a particular activity. Once the gesture is done, it registers to a log where the activity is being tracked. How do we differentiate gestures? That’s our secret sauce. But I’ll give you a hint, it’s the same technology that makes Kai possible. Visit the Kai website to know more.

The Productivity Tracker collects motion data to identify and track user behavior. These actions can be anything ranging from tightening a screw to micro-tremors. The collected data can be used to understand and gather insights for better shop-floor workflow, keeping tabs on performance, and reducing idle time of workers. Consider it web-proctoring but for the real world space instead of the digital one.

The VME ensured high-resolution, filtered IMU samples for the POC, and enabled better research. It also enabled the training of different models to identify actions that were to be mapped to the gestures.

Vicara Motion Engine not only provides granularity in terms of collected data sets to levels unimaginable and unprecedented. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

The VME has already begun scaling this task. Vicara worked in conjunction with India’s largest automotive company to develop a productivity tracker for their employees.

The tracker derived data from Vicara’s motion engine & converted them to insights & further into actionable data that was then presented on an interactive dashboard. These insights play a key role in tracking & improving productivity & efficiency of employees .

The tracker makes use of motion data collected from the sensors to derive insight on the amount of time spent on actual productive work, time spent on each individual tasks performed, revenue per day, revenue increase / decrease compared to previous day or week
