Shruthi and I have started spending 30 minutes, twice a week on the topic “Finding God without Faith” and so far she has been very cooperative & supportive in this joint adventure. Today, we listened to Christian Mysticism and its principle “God is simultaneously transcendent and imminent”.

In a traditional religious setting, we are well accustomed to exhibit our understanding of the transcendental nature of God by looking at the sky or upwards. While this is OK, we have to learn to shift our movement to the Lord’s imminent nature by seeing Ishwara in our own heart.

Swami Tadatmananda read a few quotes that helped us to contemplate on the imminent nature of Ishwara as he discussed Christian Mysticism.

♣ Corinthians I 6:19: Do you not know that you are the temple of God and the spirit of God dwells in you

♣ Acts 17:24: The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.

♣ Acts 17:27: God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.

♣ John of the Cross: To understand the nature of this union, one should first know that God sustains every soul and dwells in it substantially, even though it may be that of the greatest sinner.

♣ Meister Eckhart: There is something in the soul so closely akin to God that it is already one with Him and need never be united to Him

Today is Deepavali and it is the time to contemplate the Lord in our own heart and brighten our life. Wishing you all a peaceful life.
